When can I gain access to my belongings?
We offer free unlimited access to your belongings 24 hours a day 7 days a week, so you can add and remove items as often as is required.
What can I store in household storage?
Almost anything can be stored including cars, lawn mowers and motorbikes which can all be stored with fuel in their own tanks, however there are a few items which are prohibited e.g : living creatures, flammable materials, firearms, toxic waste and illegal substances.
What can I store in business storage?
Archive files, merchandise, stock and promotional material are some examples of items for which businesses.
Where can I buy packaging material?
David Lindsay Self Storage recommends that you pack your goods in strong double board cardboard boxes or plastic stackable boxes with lids. This makes stacking easier and avoids damage to your goods whilst also making the most of the space in the room. However, you do not need to have your goods in boxes. A dust cover is a good idea and soft furnishings should have a light polythene cover.
Where can I get packaging material?
We have a wide range of moving and packing supplies at our storage sites at a very reasonable price. We can also help and advise how to maximise your storage space.
Can I allow other people to access my storage unit?
Yes, you can allow others to access your storage unit if, you give them the key tag to access the electric gate, and your padlock key to access your unit.
Can I rent a padlock?
NO. We sell padlocks in all our shops. Our padlocks are good quality, not expensive & yours to take with you when you go!
Do I have to pay a deposit?
All customers are required to pay a refundable security deposit before storing. How much is dependent on the size of unit you choose. The amount is usually the equivalent of one month’s rental (inc VAT). The deposit is fully refundable provided there is no damage to the room after you have vacated.
How much does storage cost?
This depends on where you are storing, how long for and what size of unit you require. You can get a quote online or speak to a member of our teams on the local store number.
How much is insurance?
This depends on the full new replacement value of your goods if you had to buy them again today. The cost of insurance starts from £0.70 per week for £1,000 of cover and goes up depending on the level of cover that’s right for you. If you choose to use our insurance, this will be added to your contract when you come into our site to sign your customer contract before you move into your storage room.
What do I need to do when I want to move out?
You can move out at any time during your payment period, you just need to give us 14 days written notice to move out of a storage room, this ensures you don’t lose any of your security deposit, and any unused rent is refunded back to you.
What about transport and moving?
You are responsible for transporting and moving your goods to our site. At the Perth and Auchterarder site, we can provide a move in trailer which is delivered to your house or business for you to fill, we then return and take the trailer to our storage site to allow you to empty it into your storage unit. If you wish a man and a van or a removal company, we can advise or organise for you on your behalf.
